FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Deerfield Spa Becomes Only Spa Worldwide To Offer Yo Wei Exercise Program
East Stroudsburg, PA (June 2, 2008) – Deerfield Spa today announced an exclusive agreement with fitness expert, Jolene Puffer, making it the only destination spa worldwide to offer Puffer’s Yo-Wei exercise program. Yo-Wei combines a gentle sequence of Yoga-like movements that are safe and comfortable for people of all physical abilities, with resistance from the use of small, hand-held medicine balls. The practice is intended to magnify the benefits provided by Yoga alone, namely building core stability, burning calories, strengthening and toning muscle, and improving flexibility.
According to Puffer, Yo-Wei helps participants with limited flexibility feel less inhibited, but equally enables seasoned Yoga and fitness enthusiasts with advanced capabilities to perform at challenging levels. Yo-Wei cultivates the mind-body connection to focus on fluidity of movement rather than static poses.
“Yo-Wei is soothing and meditative, but also a really great workout” said Jeanine Clingingsmith, fitness director Deerfield Spa. “Everyone loves it – from people with physical limitations and beginners, to our hard-core, super-fit guests.”
Yo-Wei’s grapefruit-sized balls, ranging from one to five pounds each, are designed for easy, open-palm use, reducing the potential for over-gripping, as in dumbbells, which reduces the benefits of resistance training.
“Jolene Puffer is an innovator and inspiration in the fitness world,” said Joan Wolff, owner of Deerfield Spa. “Since she’s an entrepreneur, mom, marathon runner, triathlete, educator, and activist, it’s no wonder she created a time-saving, no-fuss, stress-relieving routine that packs a lot of benefits into a single workout. Our guests are thrilled with Yo-Wei, and we’re thrilled to partner with Jolene to bring it to them.”
Puffer certified Deerfield fitness instructors with Continuing Education Credit-level Yo-Wei training this spring. She will return to Deerfield September 21-28, to conduct Pilates, Plyometrics, and Circuit classes for Deerfield guests, using her weighted balls. Puffer is owner of
